Annual Friends of the Kelley Farm Meeting and Eatting

October 6th, 2011

Dear Friend of the Oliver Kelley Farm:
Please join us at the Oliver Kelley Farm on November 5th for a fun program and pork chop luncheon.

We need you to help celebrate another productive year on the Farm. With your support the Kelley Farm has continued to do what it has done for over 150 years, to be a source of knowledge, fun and inspiration for citizens of all ages.

The program starts at 10am with an interactive and fun program on the Farm site entitled Final Harvest. Final Harvest will feature the various preparations 1860s farmers needed to complete before winter set in. At 11:30 a luncheon will be served featuring the culinary skills of Those Pork Chops. During the luncheon those who have financially supported our 2011 Annual Campaign will be recognized.

A short Annual Meeting will follow.

There is no charge to you for the program and the luncheon. Family members are also welcome.

We do need you to rsvp to 763/441/6896 by no later than October 31st.
Please plan on attending. I hope to see you on November 5th.

Sincerely,

John Kuester, President
Friends of the Kelley Farm

Funds Needed For Historic Oliver Kelley Farm

A Fund Drive to Raise Eleven Thousand Dollars

Each year 28000 people visit the Oliver Kelley Farm. img_8915

This visitation has a significant economic impact on Elk River and the surrounding area.

School kids and adult visitors come to enjoy the quality programming offered that combines learning about the traditional farming skills and products of the 1860′s with lots of fun. Today, uncertain economic times threaten cutbacks of the Farms current outstanding living history programs.

The Friends of the Kelley Farm has committed to raising $11000 during 2011 of which $6000 will be dedicated to support living history interpreters and the remainder on scholarships for low income students to attend farm activities, and for marketing efforts to raise attendance at the Farm.

The Friends invite you to make a donation in support of these efforts. The name and/or logo of any business or individual making a donation in excess of $250 will be featured on a donors board located at the interpreters center at the Farm and in full view of thousands of visitors. Silent auction items are also welcomed. The silent auction will be held over the Labor Day weekend as part of Threshing Days.
